Gastric sleeve – Why I am here.

So, I’ve decided that I’m getting a gastric sleeve and I’m booked in for 29th September 2017. I’m going to use this blog to chronicle the ups and downs of the next 18 months of my life. The good, the bad and the ugly. I’m not telling many people in my personal life about the surgery because many think it is the easy way out and I don’t know if I can handle that kind of judgement just yet.

The whole reason I’m here is because of this photo:

This was me in September 2015. I was maid of honour at my best friends wedding (*Zara) and I was so uncomfortable the entire day, anxious that people were staring at me and judging me for my size. However, I didn’t realise just how fat I had gotten until I saw these photos a couple of days later. It would take me another 6 months, a few days after my birthday (26th February 2016) before I stopped beating my self up enough to consider trying to lose weight again.

This was then reinforced when one of my other friends, let’s call her *Lucy, decided to abuse the living daylights out of me because I deleted her on Facebook [1]. I was called fat and pathetic and she even told me to go kill myself (yes, really.)

Here is the start of the conversation:

So yeah, that’s how I got here. Not pretty, but these stories never are I guess.

Lastly, Welcome to my blog, I hope you find it interesting.

Nic.

[1]  she was basically stalking my friend *Anna and asked to adopt Anna’s newborn who hadn’t even been home for 12hours and Lucy let slip that she had been stalking Anna since she first announced her pregnancy. When that failed Lucy asked if Anna and her partner could create another baby and give it to her after it was born. Anna said no, and that’s when she contacted me to tell me that she was extremely uncomfortable and was worried for the safety of her family.
